The wine bar on Essex Street is nestled on the ground floor of a 19th Century limestone flour mill, which has since been restored and transformed and is just a short walk from the Fremantle Markets and Cappuccino Strip. Many epic restaurants in Fremantle put on unique Valentine's Day menus worth leaving your house for. The Old Courthouse is serving up a three-course set menu, starring a glass of Leeuwin Estate sparkling on arrival (and wine pairing for a little extra charge). Tonic & Ginger in The Old Synagogue is celebrating love with a fiery four-course Asian fusion feast, or head to Bib & Tucker for their special Valentine’s Day modern Australian menu by chef Scott Bridger. Just be sure to make a reservation ahead of time.

Sunset

Watching the sun dissolve into the deep blue of the Indian Ocean is pretty damn romantic. Manusa Organic Spa on George Street in East Fremantle is offering couple's massages in their double treatment room, using all-natural and organic essential oils. Treatments are personalised, which means your partner can enjoy a deep tissue massage designed to revive and relieve while you settle into a full-body relaxation, Swedish-style. If you’re not ready to leave, book a spa bath for two, which entails sipping bubbles in a giant tub filled with organic, mineral-rich sea salts.

Snuggle up

There's nothing more romantic than snuggling up in a cinema with that particular person you can't get enough of, and Luna on SX in Fremantle is the perfect spot to do just that. This iconic arthouse cinema is tucked away down a laneway between Essex and Norfolk Streets, close to small bars and the Cappuccino Strip. There's a licensed lounge selling wine to sip during the show and all the snacks a film buff could desire – from popcorn to cheese platters. You'll also find plenty of mainstream and arthouse films to choose from.

Sleepover

Right in the bustle of Fremantle is the sanctuary of cottages of the Warders Hotel. These newly restored limestone homes once belonged to the warders of Fremantle Prison. Now, they're intimate, thoughtfully styled rooms laden with everything you need for a romantic night in. The hotel pays homage to the original 1851 masonry and timbers, with modern finishes and furnishings that bestow so much character. Every month the husband-and-wife team features a special flavour, along with their signature ice creams, which often have homemade cookies, caramels and cakes folded into them. Best enjoyed in a homemade cone while staring into your lovers' eyes.
