No more masks. No venue restrictions. Life in Western Australia is almost normal again! With Fremantle offering plenty of ideas to lure you back into a social swing.

Celebrate WA’s new freedoms by checking out one (or more) of the many happenings in Fremantle this May. There are plenty of exciting events, from one-off dinners to Bao and beer nights, Perth Comedy Festival is back in Freo plus art workshops and Mother’s Day dinners (don't forget on 8 May). Wine & Dine

Bread in Common

Bread in Common is giving soul food a whole new meaning. Some of Perth's best chefs, producers and winemakers coming together to create an all-inclusive dinner to help raise much-needed funds for the millions of displaced children in Yemen. UNICEF is one of the only international agencies on the ground in Yemen, and their teams are working incredibly hard to save the lives of children. Show your support by the fork attending this special fundraising event on 19 May. Tickets here.

Jetty Bar & Eats

Take a tour of the Med courtesy of Jetty Bar & Eats. Each month, the riverside restaurant hosts a wine dinner focusing on their favourite Mediterranean regions. On 4 May, they are cruising to the flavours of France. Indulge in five courses of regional French cuisine prepared by head chef Marcello Segalina, all paired with wine, set against that sensational Swan River view. Tickets here.

Running with Thieves

Treat yourself to the ultimate meal deal every Wednesday at South Fremantle's much-loved brewery, Running with Thieves. You can nab yourself a pint and bao buns for $30. Plus, with local DJs setting the mood, you may even stay for round two.

The Old Courthouse

Thursday is the new Friday at The Old Courthouse. Enjoy $10 Spritzes all day and succulent tandoori chicken from the house rotisserie (until sold out). They also have live music covered from 5.30pm in the garden with Tom Mantle, so it's the perfect excuse to get in early. Details.

Art

Fremantle Arts Centre

Time to get hands-on and unleash your creative side. Fremantle Arts Centre is hosting various adult art classes, including screen printing, jewellery design, ink drawing or pottery, just to name a few, beginning 23 May. It's the perfect excuse to try something different and create your own masterpiece to take home. Tickets here.

Stackwood

Arts, crafts, and cooking are in store this May at Stackwood. Engage with wholesome living by attending a curated workshop held in their light-filled warehouse space to learn new skills, including our favourite - how to become a plant parent  - on 14 May. Kerfuffle

Test your charcoal or pencil skills with a life drawing class at Kerfuffle. Every Wednesday, the multi-purpose café space teams up with Life Drawing Perth to present a drawing session around various themes. Check out Kerfuffle to find out what’s in store.

In case you missed the news… Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition.

One of Rome's most famous landmarks is in Fremantle, in modern form, as Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition until June 2022. The ceiling paintings from the Sistine Chapel have been recreated using a unique printing technique that displays the age and detail of each artwork. It showcases the talents of the 16th-century master and allows guests to gaze at Michelangelo's masterpieces a little closer to home. Tickets here.

Freo.Social

Time to 'LOL' in real-time with Perth's biggest annual comedy event bringing laughs to Freo.Social over two nights. The Perth Comedy Festival Showcase brings together a hilarious line-up of the festival's funniest Australian and international acts on Thursday, 5 and 12 May. Find all the details here.

Moro Spanish Film Festival

Another month, another fab film fiesta. This time with the Moro Spanish Film Festival presented by Luna Palace Cinemas. Catch the best cinema in Spain and Latin America at Fremantle's favourite arthouse cinema, Luna on SX, until 18 May. Madalena's

Who needs flowers? Madalena's has got something special lined up for this Mother's Day over four courses. Their talented chefs have put together a unique set lunch menu to treat your mother by the forkful. As always, spots will fill up quickly at this South Fremantle favourite, so best get in early. Young George

Celebrate Mum either by day or night at Young George. Their full a la carte menu is available from 11am. Their menu also heads to the UK with a Sunday roast of wood-roasted pork with all the trimmings. Its available from lunchtime until sold out with a glass of vino or sangria for only $26. The National Hotel

“Spill the tea” with Mum this Mother’s Day at The National Hotel. They are offering a traditional high tea with all the trimmings (think finger sandwiches and sweet treats) with a glass of prosecco for $55. Or perhaps gin is more to Mum’s liking?
