Kidogo Arthouse
Indie arts centre in one of WA's most historic buildings draws in swathes of artists and live music by the Bathers Beach water's edge.
For the 20th anniversary of the Patrick White award-winning play, 'The Return', Perth theatre gem and writer/director Reg Cribb has retitled his work for this new edition, Last Train to Freo.
Performed by the Fremantle Theatre Company, it’s destined to speed and spark its way down the track in this dynamic new staging.
Set in the claustrophobic, sealed tin can of a Perth train compartment, two rough and wayward misfits take advantage of a guards’ strike to terrorise the train occupants.
The agendas of those on board twist together as they travel ahead, unavoidably intertwined and unravelling as the train hurtles closer to its destination.
Tackling the treaty of brotherhood and revenge from two very different angles and influenced by the author’s own experience of loss, Last Train to Freo's central theme explores the ever-present violent element in society and our fragile sense of security and vulnerability.
Last Train to Freo is a ticking time-bomb, winding up energetically as the train approaches its final destination: Fremantle.
An inspired, richly layered, dramatic story that resonates for anyone who’s ever commuted in this town or dared a wild night out on the grimier side of the city.
Featuring incredible live music from the killer punk band and Freo locals M.K.Ulstrasound, Last Train to Freo is an exhilarating, all-action play to the last stop.
